Why this exists
Dogs are not small humans with collars.
PawPulse started from an observation that kept repeating. Every pet wearable on the shelf was a smaller version of a human one. Optical sensors designed for a bare wrist. Thresholds borrowed from human ranges. Alerts tuned to a body that does not have a double coat, does not shake off a lake, and does not hold still for a reading.
On a dog, those assumptions break quietly. Light-based sensors struggle on thick and dark coats. Generic thresholds flag a sighthound and miss a bulldog. The result is a wearable that either says nothing useful or says too much of it, and owners learn to ignore the notifications either way.
Lucero starts from the canine signal instead. Contactless radar reads heart rate, breathing, and movement through the coat from inside the collar. No chest strap, no gel, nothing to shave. The collar fits like a normal collar and keeps reading where optical sensing gives up.
Then it learns your specific dog. Breed-aware baselines drawn from 100+ breed profiles give the system a starting point, and from there it compares today against your dog rather than against an average. That is the whole thesis: engineered for the canine signal, on canine hardware, at canine scale.
